Planning your ceremony

Couples make their own arrangement for an officiant. Our wedding coordinator can provide a list of officiants from various denominations. Couples are also welcome to provide their own musicians and personalized music selections to make the day unique.

Couples may choose a four-hour block of time for a wedding anytime between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm.

Couples may schedule the ceremony any day of the week if the requested space is available. Rehearsals are usually scheduled for the evening preceding the ceremony.

Please note: Weddings are not scheduled at Holy Wisdom Monastery during Holy Week (the week leading up to Easter), on Easter Day, Thanksgiving Thursday through Sunday, Christmas Eve and Day and New Year’s Eve and Day.

The Assembly Room seats up to 300. We also have outdoor locations on the monastery grounds that are perfect for ceremonies up to 300 guests as well. Holy Wisdom Monastery offers the unique service of always reserving a comparable indoor space at no additional cost just in case the weather turns inclement for an outdoor ceremony.

On-site wedding coordinator

From an initial tour, to meeting with couples prior to the wedding, to coordinating the rehearsal and the ceremony, our onsite wedding coordinator provides the expertise and support throughout your planning process to ensure that your day is special.  Our coordinators are staff members of the monastery and experienced professionals with many years of event expertise.

Receptions

Wedding receptions are held in the main monastery building’s gathering area, guest dining room and patio.  These areas combined can accommodate up to a total of 200 guests.  Wedding receptions are allotted an additional four hours that are in addition to the four hours dedicated to the ceremony.  To maintain the peaceful and contemplative setting for all guests of the monastery, receptions must end no later than 9:00 pm. Additional fees apply for receptions and are detailed in the “Special Event Handbook” available from the wedding coordinator. In celebration of the very special event of a wedding, we offer our bridal couples a 10% discount on the rental rate of our guest dining room.
