In this, the 500 year anniversary of the Reformation, we experience and explore the many voices of Christianity, and the call of the monastery to be grounded in (unity) ecumenism. Come for one or more sessions. All are welcome. $30/lunch.

February 28, 2018 | Hearts Strangely Warmed: the Essence of Methodism
Rachel Olson’s vocational path in the United Methodist Church (UMC) began when she took her children to Sunday School and was told there was no teacher available. She volunteered to be a substitute that day and to help out one Sunday a month, and in less than a year she became Chair of the Christian Education Committee, Youth Ministry Leader, and occasional Sunday morning preacher. With the continued support and encouragement from her local church she answered a call to professional ministry in 1996, serving as a part time student pastor while attending seminary at the University of Dubuque. She graduated with a Masters of Divinity in 2000 and was ordained a Deacon that same year. She received her Elders (full ordination) in 2005 and began serving as a full time local church pastor to a variety of United Methodist congregations around Wisconsin. Never one to rest on her laurels, after 10 years of full time service, Rachel left pastoral ministry and the UMC to continue her faith journey along some new pathways. She has since become a member of Holy Wisdom’s Sunday Assembly and is currently serving as co-chair of the Spiritual Deepening Council.
